Who I am
Lia Rodda, a lover of movement, dance, discovering how our bodies work, and how they heal us and help us every day.
My Journey:
I started attending dance schools from 6 years old, beginning with freestyle disco dancing, lyrical and street dance, moving on to contemporary, ballet, jazz and creating choreography. Leading me into completing a L3 Performing Arts qualification, AS level dance and an extended dance diploma.
After many auditions, being accepted for a course in London Studio Centre and the financial difficulties that came along with it, I had to decide if this was truly the path I wanted for my life. As a perfectionist of dance technique and a lover of anatomy and physiology, I decided to change direction, and enter into the world of sports therapy; exploring the body, injuries, exercise and rehabilitation.
I graduated Buckinghamshire New University with a 2:1 in BSc (hons) Sports Therapy, and set up my own business called ‘Active Bodyworks’ in South Buckinghamshire. Working with private clients, football academies, youth clubs and corporate businesses, I saw a wide variety of conditions and scenarios, from injury rehab, TBI, return to sport, running a youth club, personal training, a celeb prepping for soccer aid, corporate wellbeing events, the list goes on.
Whilst running ‘Active Bodyworks’ I gained my L3 gym instructor and personal trainer qualification, and kept up to date with CPD such as; myofascial dry cupping, L3 foam rolling instructor, kettlebell instructor, seated chair massage and more. After 4 years of business it was time to take a break.
In 2023 I moved back to my home town of Swansea to start growing my family. I now have 2 beautiful children, and have the pleasure of juggling family life and business life whilst I watch them grow. I have continued my love for dance and movement pre and postnatally, am back to business from the end of 2025 and have updated the business name to ‘Lia Rodda Movement’ to better reflect the work I am doing moving forward.
So now, you can find me teaching movement sessions, including stretching, mobility, dance, and other fitness classes at locations in and around Swansea for the lovely Copper Fitness, taking appointments for sports therapy sessions in GJ sports therapy clinic, in the Ware-House Gym, Swansea and leading corporate wellness packages and events at businesses in and around Swansea.
